EVENT OF MAY 7
The first actual TUKANDU cycling event was on Saturday, May 7. Unfortunately, all events for prior weeks had been canceled because of unfavorable weather. We really lucked out on this day because the temperature was in the 60's ... and, wonder of wonder, it was not raining. We got our tandems out and got ourselves launched on the trail around 9:30 A.M.
Thirteen members were in attendence for this May 7 event.
Captains were
Jeff Hahn, Paul Hegedus, Marie Jones, Mark Paff, Chris Schumacher, Joe Stat, and Greg Wilmhoff.
Stokers were
Mike Breeden, Connie Brooher, Mary Ann Donelan, Dave Perry, Joyce Rogers, and Robert Rogers.
Unfortunately or maybe fortunately according to one's viewpoint, there was a captain without a stoker. Thus, that captain, Paul Hegedus, was seen several times zooming up the trail on a tandem with nobody to be seen on the back seat. One said maybe it was Harvy, that famous invisible, 6 foot tall rabbit riding back there. But, one never knows about a thing like that.
Along about 11:15, Greg Wilmhoff fired up the grill back in Nisbet park and started cooking Burgers, metts, and bratts for the cyclists as they returned. And all were in agreement that Greg did an outstanding job of it, too.
Again, the weather was outstanding. The group started breaking up around 12:15 as they left to return home. Would you believe it? Within ten minutes after we were back on the road headed for home, it started raining. How about that for timing?
Now, see what you missed? Be sure to come out and see us the next time.
